How does a semester at sea work?

Semester at Sea: The Only Program of its Kind Over a 100-day voyage on a shipboard campus, students select academic courses drawn from 20 – 25 fields of study that are integrated with relevant field classes in up to a dozen countries, allowing for an experiential, comparative education that is truly global.

What age do you have to be for Semester at Sea?

Are there age or physical fitness restrictions? We welcome trip participants over 10 years to join us. While there is no maximum age, all participants must be physically fit, active,and in good health.

Yes, students from all majors regularly enroll in Semester at Sea. More than 40 majors are typically represented on any given voyage.

Is Semester at Sea only for college students?

While the Semester at Sea voyages are designed for undergraduate study, and the vast majority of participants will be in that undergraduate population, we do look at post-baccalaureate students on a case-by-case basis.

With Semester at Sea program fees ranging from around $26,000 to $32,000 for room, board and tuition, the program is not cheap (there are far more affordable programs out there).
