Why is the Indian Ladder Trail closed?
VOORHEESVILLE – The popular Indian Ladder Trail at John Boyd Thacher State Park remains closed for “maintenance and cleanup work,” the state’s Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation said Tuesday.

Thacher Park supported the first common Raven nest in the region, and is now considered the nucleus for the area’s population. Great birding can be found along the Indian Ladder Trail, the Paint Mine Trail, and any of the woodland trails, particularly in the spring and summer.

Where is Thacher Park located?
Thacher Park is located in the Helderbergs, an east-west mountain range between the Adirondacks and the Catskills. Although the Helderbergs extend more than 300 miles, their most dramatic manifestation is the 3-milelong, 1200-foot-high limestone escarpment southwest of Albany that forms the core of the park.
