Let’s go! The annual event draws an about 250,000 people from all over the Tampa Bay area, according to the Tampa Chamber of Commerce. Organizers say this year’s Guavaween celebration, set for Oct. 26, will also have more of a family feel. Guavaween has been a Bay area tradition since 1985.
What happened to Guavaween?
In 2015 the final death throes of Guavaween had started. The fencing came down and the entrance fee eliminated resulting it the elimination of the ability of attendee to consume alcohol since the city ban on drinking in the streets returned. The activity lost more patrons with this move and a loss of income from ticket sales.
