You can only pitch a tent at designated campsites or 200 ft from water and 100 ft from any trail. You may also find a few cabins along the way for a more comfortable stay.

Can I go backpacking without training?
Get physically ready: You’re not training for a marathon, but even a short trip can be physically demanding. At a minimum do plenty of day hikes and be able to comfortably handle trails with a similar distance and elevation gain as your planned trip.
