How do you comment on dance?
Your dancing is so beautiful, even if you don’t always feel like it is. I love how your personality shines through in your movement! You are so focused during class—it’s really inspiring. You are a great teammate, and I love dancing with you because I know I can trust you.
Why do we dance?
Dancing promotes confidence, self esteem, personal expression and flexibility of the body and mind. It is a great way to connect your child to a supportive community and an appreciative audience. Dance classes promote physical fitness as being fun and easy and are the catalyst to engage in fitness for a lifetime.
How hard is it to choreograph for 8 hours?
Even when you’re being safe, eight hours of choreography makes you look like you’ve been through a war. It’s hard. It’s like playing hockey for eight hours.
Is it weird to see choreography done by another dance company?
It’s weird when you see pieces of choreography that were done for you 15 or 20 years ago and now they are being done by another dance company.
What makes a good dancer?
A good dancer is not necessarily defined by great technique, skill, or ability to pick up choreography but by confidence. When you feel the music, it penetrates to your soul. Everybody’s a dancer. The greatest dancer is someone who is willing to dance, not afraid. If we think something is not good, we’ll openly say it.
What is @choreography?
Choreography is writing on your feet. I was always interested in choreography – in making people think and feel something. The body moves through space every day, and in architecture in cities that can be orchestrated.
