The School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University is a member of the consortium of conservatory theatre training programs. Auditions or interview/portfolio reviews are required for students applying to Acting/Music Theater, Design, the John Wells Directing Program, or Production Technology and Management.

Students applying under the Early Decision 1 Plan will be notified of our decisions by December 15. Students applying under the Early Decision 2 Plan will be notified of our decisions by February 1. Students applying under the Regular Decision Plan will be notified of our decisions by April 1.

On-campus sessions are not evaluative, but rather are counseling sessions to help students align their interests with our programs. We do not offer alumni interviews in advance of admission decisions and have refocused alumni efforts to connect with admitted candidates instead.
