I’ve had this Husqvarna 223L gas line trimmer for several years now and it gets pretty hard use on our Texas ranch and works well. Like anything else mechanical, parts wear our or break and just recently the starter pawl assembly failed. The original only had one plastic pawl but this replacement part has two like the newer machines.

How do you remove the cooling fan on a 223l?
This came quick and fit my 223L perfectly. Just remove the 3 screws holding on the pull cord assembly which I replaced last year and jam the cooling fan with a screwdriver. The bolt then comes off counterclockwise. The new pawl has two instead of one spring loaded plastic arms.
