What is KSS and PCF?
The PCF and knowledge and skills statements (KSS) The PCF provides an overarching framework for social work in England for all levels across all practice areas. The KSS sets out what is expected of qualified social workers in specific work and practice contexts.

The assessed and supported year in employment ( ASYE ) is a programme that gives newly qualified social workers extra support during their first year of employment. The programme aims to develop their skills, knowledge and professional confidence.

Is ASYE mandatory?
5. Is ASYE mandatory? The ASYE is not mandatory however, most local authorities would require that you enrol on the programme once you are employed as a NQSW. It helps to develop national uniformity in the knowledge and skills of a social worker.
Can I transfer my ASYE?
No, this can be transferred across. The new employer will consider the evidence that has been provided for the AYSE assessment. Your past employer can also provide information about how you have progressed over the year or the time you have been working there.
What grade is an ASYE social worker?
Successful completion of the ASYE will result in the NQSW becoming a main grade Social Worker and assimilated to the bottom point of Grade 10.
