Do you need experience for WWOOF?
WWOOFing is one of the most affordable means of traveling. Your food and lodging are taken care of, plus a lot of these farms are far away from populated centers, giving you the chance to explore without spending a lot of money. No farming experience required. Earlier we mentioned that having farm skills is a plus.
What do WWOOFers do?
WWOOF enables people to live and volunteer on a variety of organic properties. Volunteers (WWOOFers) help on the land and home for 4-6 hours a day and hosts provide the food and accommodation. If you want to have hands on experience, learn and share organic and sustainable ways of living then WWOOF might be for you.
What is it called when you work on a farm for room and board?
WWOOF is a cultural and educational program. Visitors, or ‘WWOOFers’, spend about half of each day helping out on a host farm, learn about the organic farming and sustainability, and receive free room and board during their visit – with no money exchanged between hosts and WWOOFers.
Where is the best place to WWOOF?
There are a lot of exciting locations for WWOOFing in Europe, but when it comes to biologic agriculture and living the alternative lifestyle, France is the best option. Italy meanwhile, is the top destination for biodynamic farming and if you’re interested in volunteering for commercial hosts.
Can you make money WWOOFing?
No! WWOOF is a mutual exchange! Any member who joins WWOOF will not be receiving any salary or daily allowances during the exchange. Receiving payment for work done on a volunteer exchange jeopardizes the host and the entire WWOOF program as stringent laws must be followed when hiring an “employee”.
Is there an age limit for WWOOFing?
Providing you are fit and well enough to work for 4-6 hours per day – there is no upper age limit for WWOOFing. Many farmers welcome the maturity older WWOOFers bring. We would however recommend that you tell your host in advance about any physical limitation you may have.

How do I join WWOOF?
Although WWOOF is a global community, it consists of local chapters so first choose the country you are interested in joining. Your local membership gives you access to that national WWOOF network and allows you to find and contact hosts.
Is there an international WWOOF membership?
There is no international WWOOF membership. WWOOF is a network of local organisations providing a local and friendly service that speak the local language, know the local volunteer laws and know most of the hosts.
What is the age limit for WWOOF groups?
Most WWOOF groups use the lower age limit of 18 years old as in most countries people below 18 are considered by law to be children. The good news is that different rules apply in different countries and so some WWOOF groups do take younger people. WWOOF Germany, WWOOF Portugal, WWOOF Ireland,…
