Is Erandur a good follower Skyrim?

He is one of my favorite followers, he has a bunch of dialogue, he a interesting backstory, and its nice having a priest to follow me in my travels (although most of the stuff I do he wouldn’t approve of) but his lack of magicka is a little annoying. His combat skills aren’t very well as well.
