What are folders in Reaper?

Reaper’s folder tracks are an interesting alternative to traditional busses. They simultaneously submix channels together (in the same way as a bus) and group those tracks visually in a parent/child arrangement. To set up a track folder, create a new track and position it immediately above the tracks you want to group.

Where are Reaper files saved?

If you started recording takes before you saved the project, for example, those early recordings will be in Reaper’s default recording path (usually in your Home folder, under Documents\Reaper Media).

What is a sub project in Reaper?

A drastically re-edited drum recording, with its Subproject source open in a secondary tab. Subprojects allow you to perform as much editing to a multitrack recording as you like, while retaining easy access to the underlying session. Reaper 5.11’s new Subprojects facility opens up entirely new ways of working.

How do I backup Reaper projects?

If you see any paths that aren’t in your project directory, you can instruct Reaper to copy those files into the project directory. Another way of accomplishing this is to use File -> Save As, make sure the correct checkboxes are checked (see above), and just save it to your backup folder/drive.

Does Reaper autosave?

A final thing to remember: this autosave feature requires one thing. It requires the project to have an initial save name and location. Basically, Reaper can allow you to start a new project without saving it anywhere. If you decide to do this, there is nowhere for it to autosave to and so your project will be lost.

Do Reaper projects use a media folder?

By default REAPER projects do not use a media folder. All your audio files, project files, backups, and peaks are saved in one folder and its a HUGE MESS!!
