What jobs are in the Navy Reserve?
Security, Office, Safety, Service. The Navy Reserve offers enlisted career training in law enforcement as well as careers in the emergency, fire and rescue fields. A variety of administrative careers, including human resources, and legal support paralegal-type careers are offered by the Navy Reserve.
What do you do at a Nosc?
Your NOSC may be responsible for maintaining an armed watchstander program, facility maintenance coordination, and all of the program management functions found on a traditional military installation.
Does the Navy pick your job?
The Navy calls their enlisted jobs “ratings.” The Navy offers two programs: Guaranteed Job, and Undesignated Seaman. While both programs are available, most enlist under the Guaranteed Job program. Again, whether or not you will be offered the job you want depends upon your qualifications, and the needs of the service.

Do FTS get deployed?
It is open to both male and female personnel. Enlisted FTS personnel serve in demanding billets both at sea and ashore, providing the support necessary to prepare Navy Reservists to deploy when needed.
Can you switch from active duty to FTS?
It’s always been possible to re-up into the FTS community from the active component, but with changes announced Oct. 28 in NAVADMIN message 243/16, it’s easier than ever. Officials say these changes will remain in effect until further notice.
