The question is why a hedgehog… I really don’t think there is a decent answer to this, humans and anthropomorphic animals seem to co-exist in Sonic’s world, so perhaps Shadow was an already existing person who was experimented on, other than that – I can think of no reason why he would be a hedgehog in particular.
