Both Space Quest I and II were developed in Adventure Game Interpreter, Sierra’s own programming language. Space Quest III was written in Sierra’s Creative Interpreter (SCI), which had 3-D capabilities.

I was able to get the Space Quest games, downloaded from GOG, to play on my Mac. As suggested above, I installed the game from the .exe file using Winebottler, then explored the package contents of the ‘app’ it creates and copied the game directory somewhere easy to fine.

Is there a way to change the language of Space Quest 4?
All the foreign versions of Space Quest 4 (and SQ1VGA) also have the English language files included. Just go to the control panel and click on the Sierra About Logo. The last button on the right changes it from English to whatever the foreign language you’re playing. Apparently, SQ4 and SQ1VGA are the only Sierra games that include this option.
