Why is the Cairngorm funicular closed?
The Cairngorm funicular has been closed since September 2018 due to structural problems. The Scottish government has provided £16m towards the cost of fixing the railway, owned by public body Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).

The main car parking area for visitors to Cairngorm Mountain is at the base of Coire Cas with space for over 400 cars including accessible, and coach specific parking areas.
How long does it take to walk up Cairngorm mountain?
Depends what route you take, if you go up funicular walk to summit from top of it would take about 30 minutes. We walked from car park (path off to the right as you look up mountain) total distance was 8.5 miles took 5.5 hours. Totally worth it though.
