Do picks damage guitar?
The thickness of a guitar pick will enormously affect the wear and tear. Thinner picks will wear down almost immediately when using heavy pick techniques. Other attributes of the pick that affect the durability, are the Tip Shape, and the Tip Texture.
Are thin guitar picks better?
In general, light picks produce a clearer, thinner tone. Heavy picks produce warmer, mellower tone. I personally find that I prefer the warm full sound of heavy picks when playing melodies, but the light clear sound of thin picks when strumming chords.
