What wood do they use for STIHL TIMBERSPORTS?

The STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® competition wood for almost all disciplines is taken from fast growing poplar trees, which are cultivated on certified industrial plantations and are 100% sustainable. The only exception is the wood used for Single Buck – for this discipline, the athletes take white pine instead of poplar.


STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® started in 1985 at regional U.S. logging competitions, and has grown to become a worldwide phenomenon with National Championships in 27 countries, culminating in the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championships (Individual and Team Relay).

Application: To be considered for inclusion in either the 2021 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Pro or Rookie competition, an application form and resume must be completed and returned by January 31, 2021. A $100 registration fee must be included with the application.
