most experienced people say that maximum amount of usable hp you should have on a fwd car is about 200-250 hp. after that you need to start doing crazy stuff to keep from dying.
Are 4AGE engines reliable?
Yeah, the 4AGE is definitely good enough to be a daily driver and should last for many hundreds of thousands of miles. Throw some good hardware on outside the engine and you’ll definitely see more power than a blacktop would have given you for the same price.

What is a Hyper-Pak engine?
A competition engine, the Hyper-Pak featured a much more radical cam, intake, and carb; steel tubing exhaust headers; higher compression pistons; and a special tuned exhaust system. Advertised at 195 hp, Hyper-Pak engines are often said to put out even more power.
Should I buy a turbo kit for my 4agze?
If you are starting with a 4AGZE and want to turbo it then up to stock GZE boost levels all you need to worry about is the turbo kit. If you want to run more than 8 PSI you need to decide if buying a gruntbox and working with what you have will be the best route or if you should upgrade to something with more control.
What is the p/n for a Hyper Pak header?
A set of special cast iron manifolds called the Hyper-Pak header split the manifolds; the front three standard manifold carried P/N 2129899 and the rear manifold carried P/N 2129900. These dumped into a single 2-1/2″ o.d. outlet pipe followed by a bigger muffler from an Imperial. The exhaust and muffler carried P/N 2298350.
Are 4agze Pistons any good?
The OEM 4AGZE pistons have proven as a good choice. People have made a lot of power on them. The downside is the largeport GZE pistons are 8.1:1 compression. Even for boost that is very low by todays standards. I am a fan of high compression.
