Anyone have any good performance enhancing recommendations for the venerable 345 engine. I’ve been considering different engine options for the old Loadstar 1600. It has a great running 345 in it now. Only problem is it’s 40 years old. One of my first thoughts was a diesel repower. Cummins was kinda on my mind.

this 345 cuin V8 was a very durable engine. Long life, low rpm, gas hog. I worked for an electrical utility and drove IH travelall, travelette and pickups. Never had one to have serious engine troubles. Never had to open engine for repairs.

AMC 304s are not the same engine. and the international V8 are all blueprinted .the pistons all have the same deck height and the combustion chambers all have the same CC,s. You cant replace just one head.
