Is all strimmer wire the same?
A strimmer wire is an important component of a strimmer. Without it, the machine will not cut grass or weeds as it is supposed to. These cords come in different sizes, colours, and shapes. so making a choice between so many options can be difficult, especially if you haven’t used this device before.
How do I know what strimmer wire to get?
As a general rule:
- Light work thickness range from 1.2 to 1.4mm. See a selection here.
- Medium type work could be done using 1.5 to 2mm line. View them at this link.
- Heavy duty lines range from 2.4 to 3mm. Select your version.
- Anything heavier than this is moving up to a commercial grade such as, 3.3 and the 4mm sizes.
Is Thicker strimmer wire better?
String trimmer line comes in a range of thicknesses. For light work, such as trimming grass, 0.065″-0.085″ should be sufficient. For thicker grass and weeds, a line in the 0.085″-0.110″ range will get the job done, and for thicker underbrush, anything thicker than 0.110″ will work.
Does strimmer wire fit any strimmer?
As long as you have the right gauge it will fit into your strimmer. While it’s always easier to follow branded guidelines you should be aware that 1.5mm gauge strimmer line for example, is just that, and it will fit into any corresponding strimmer of that gauge.
Can I use any trimmer line?
Most styles and weights are interchangeable, so you can use non-OEM (original equipment manufacturers) line. However, larger/heavier line may not fit every string trimmer. Replace old trimmer line every spring. It could turn brittle over the cold winter and break more easily.
