Is it non toxic? If used according to the instructions, iDye is safe.

Can you mix RIT and iDye?

While mixing is possible, they don’t currently offer a color chart like RIT to help out and I’m not sure some colors could be made like fuchsia, lighter shades of blue, and greys. But they do have most of base colors most commonly used, and maybe with enough demand from us they’ll put out more.

Can I use iDye Poly in washing machine?

One of the great things about iDye is that its a sealed dye packet that dissolves in water. You just toss the dye in the washing machine, run it for 30 minutes adding salt or vinegar (depending on your fabric), wash it out and that’s it.

Can I mix RIT synthetic and all purpose?

Are they interchangeable? Yes! If you are following a custom color formula and you only have one color in liquid and the other in powder, it is okay to mix them.

Can you ice dye with iDye Poly?

iDye is intended for use on cotton or rayon in very hot water, while iDye Poly is intended for use on polyester in actually boiling water. Don’t try to dye polyester without a means to boil your dyebath throughout the dyeing process. When you next have an opportunity, you should buy some cold water dye.

How do you mix iDye Poly for disc dyeing?

The best mixture I found contained 1/4 cup of liquid and 3/4 tablespoon of iDye Poly powder. I’ll post more about colors and different amounts of dye powder in another article.

Each iDye packet contains 14 grams of pure dye powder (no fillers like grocery or drug store dyes) and for the lighter colors it will dye 2 to 3 pounds of fabric.

for 100% natural fabrics ( cotton, rayon, silk, etc.) use iDye. for 100% polyester or nylon use iDye Poly **IMPORTANT – some polyesters and nylons just won’t take dye – we don’t know why. Most will, but some won’t. You just have to TEST! for polyester or nylon/natural blends use iDye and the corresponding or closest color of iDye Poly.
