Is JRF and CSIR NET same?
CSIR NET is a national eligibility test which is conducted for two positions i.e. The candidates can apply for only JRF, both JRF and Assistant Professor or only Assistant Professor. There is no difference between CSIR NET JRF exam and CSIR UGC NET exam.

What is the salary of JRF?
Post the hike, the JRFs will get a monthly stipend of Rs31,000 per month as compared to their current Rs 25,000 per month, while the senior research fellows would be entitled to Rs 35,000 per month from the current Rs 28,000 per month.
Who will get JRF scholarship?
The applicants who have obtained a master’s degree or equivalent with 55% marks are eligible for NET JRF. The candidates belonging to reserved categories are eligible for 5% relaxation in the marks.
Is JRF equal to PhD?
Clearing JRF is not equal to PhD, not at all. JRF is the Fellowship amount granted to you by the government of India while you do you phd, upto maximum 5 years.
Does JRF get paid?
The senior research fellows, those who have cleared the JRF and have a minimum of two years of work experience, will be entitled to get the revised salary of Rs 35,000 per month.
Is JRF a permanent job?
One of them is for clearing NET and the other one which is a bit higher than NET is for JRF. The score of JRF is valid only for 3 years whereas the score of NET is valid for the lifetime.

What is the procedure for PhD registration for CSIR Junior Research Fellowship?
CSIR Junior Research Fellows should register for PhD within a period of two year ( Ph.D proforma Download from here) from the date of joining their fellowship, failing which the fellowship may be terminated. In exceptional circumstances, CSIR may consider giving extension for an additional period of one year.
