Is there a market for old Sky boxes?
Provided you’re out of contract with Sky and the box is yours to sell, then you could consider selling it on eBay, where they can earn some decent money. If a Sky box breaks, they’re expensive to replace and many opt for a second-hand box as an alternative.
Can you do anything with an old Sky HD box?
We reuse most parts of your old products and recycle the rest. If your Sky Q or broadband kit has been loaned to you as part of your subscription, you’ll need to return it to us when you leave. If you hang on to it, you’ll pay a non-return fee.
Can I use someone else’s Sky box?
Your Sky card is paired with your Sky Box so it’s designed to work together. The card cannot be used with another box or a third party equipment.
How do I pair my Sky card with a second hand box?
Insert your card into the slot on the front of your Sky box. Press Services on your Sky remote, select Settings, and then Details. Make a note of your Sky box Version Number, 10 or 11-digit Serial Number, 9-digit Viewing Card Number, and Receiver ID.
Can I use my old Sky box without a dish?
Sky boxes have no functionality in the absence of a satellite signal: the card makes no difference. Without a dish, your choices are Freeview (digital terrestrial) via an external or internal aerial, or streaming television services such as NowTV.
Can I use my old Sky box to watch Freeview?
@Nodrog87 No sky boxes can be used as a freeview box as they are two different systems. It can be used as a Freesat box using an existing Satellite dish. Freeview needs an aerial.
Can you still use your Sky box to record without subscription?
Sky boxes can now record without a sky channel subscription, previously £120 a year just enable recording.
Can I move my Sky card from one box to another?
The only Viewing Card linked to your subscription is the one in your Sky box at home. Viewing Cards aren’t transferable between customer accounts.
