What is WEAI?

The Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index The Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index (or WEAI) is the first-ever measure to directly capture women’s empowerment and inclusion levels in the agricultural sector.

How often is data collected for the WEAI?

Data for the WEAI will be collected every two or three years in all 19 Feed the Future focus countries. Baselines were collected in 2011 and 2012. Check out the new WEAI baseline report

What is WEAI for value chains?

The WEAI for Value Chains (WEAI4VC), still under development, is intended to measure empowerment across agricultural value chains. WEAI4VC has been piloted in four countries, Bangladesh, Benin, Malawi and the Philippines.

What is pro-WEAI?

The Project WEAI (Pro-WEAI) instrument, under development, seeks to measure women’s empowerment within project-specific contexts, and includes optional modules tailored to livestock and/or nutrition and health programs.
