What type of connector do servos use?
The most popular size, without a doubt, is the 0.1″ connector. Open up any computer and you’ll find tons of 0.1″ connectors from IDE cables to USB and Firewire headers. That’s exactly the type of connector used by the RC industry for servos and anything else that plugs into your receiver.
Are all servo connectors the same?
Occasionally there are questions on servo compatibility between brands. Servos are designed for different torque, speed, size, weight and precision. As far as connecting the servos to the receiver, the ones currently manufactured (with small exclusions) are compatible.
Are Futaba and JR connectors compatible?
This Futaba J connector has a 0.1″ pin spacing and mates with the female connectors found on many Futaba servos. It is keyed to enforce proper cable orientation when used with a corresponding female Futaba J connector, and it is also compatible with female JR connectors, which are not keyed.
Are Futaba and Hitec connectors compatible?
You can mix Futaba servos with an Airtronics receiver, mix Hitec & JR servos with a Futaba receiver, etc. as long as you are careful about polarity. In Futaba, Hitec, and JR Radio servos, the servo and battery connections have the same polarity (+/-) and signal wiring, although the connectors are slightly different.
What is a JR connector?
This JR connector has a 0.1″ pin spacing and is commonly used on RC servos. Two corners are slightly beveled, which makes it difficult (but not impossible) to incorrectly plug the connector into the corresponding male JR connector. This connector is also compatible with male Futaba J connectors.
What is the difference between a JR and Futaba servo leads?
jr futaba and hitec all basically have the same style connector on the servo the wires are arranged the same and the only difference between the futaba and the others is the little tab running down the length of the connector i usually shave off when i get one.

Can you reverse polarity on a servo?
Old analog servos could be reversed by taking the case apart and reversing the servo motor wires AND the position sensing potentiometer wires. Some, but very few, digital servos can be reversed by reprogramming the on board processor.
