Are all Hubble images public domain?
NASA and Hubble images are generally in the public domain. More information on NASA’s imagery use policy is available here.
Does the Horsehead nebula still exist?
The nebula is located just to the south of Alnitak, the easternmost star of Orion’s Belt, and is part of the much larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex….Horsehead Nebula.

Are nebula images real?
Images of nebulae are sometimes displayed in false colors. This is because emission nebulae shine mainly in three narrow spectral lines, depending on their chemical composition, as opposed to light of stars (and thus whole galaxies), which spectrum is continuous (with the exception of some absorption lines, of course).
Is Horsehead nebula visible?
The Horsehead nebula lies just south of the bright star Zeta Orionis, which is easily visible to the unaided eye as the left-hand star in the line of three that form Orion’s Belt.
Are ESA images copyrighted?
A: No. The use of the ESA/Hubble logo is controlled and it must not be reproduced without permission.
Can I use ESA images?
You may use ESA images or videos for educational or informational purposes. The publicly released ESA images may be reproduced without fee, on the following conditions: Credit ESA as the source of the images.
Can you see Horsehead Nebula with binoculars?
The horsehead shape is caused by an enormous cloud of nearly opaque black dust lying in front of a large cloud of excited hydrogen. So, the horsehead shape is ‘backlit’ by the fluorescing hydrogen. It really cannot be seen, even in large binoculars because it is very faint.
Can you see nebula from Earth?
Most nebulae – clouds of interstellar gas and dust – are difficult if not impossible to see with the unaided eye or even binoculars. But the Orion Nebula is in a class nearly all by itself. It’s visible to the unaided eye on a dark, moonless night.
Can nebula be seen with the naked eye?
What Messier objects are visible now?
M42.
Can I use NASA images on Youtube?
NASA content (images, videos, audio, etc) are generally not copyrighted and may be used for educational or informational purposes without needing explicit permissions.
What is the Horsehead Nebula?
Located in the constellation Orion, the Horsehead is a cousin of the famous pillars of dust and gas known as the Eagle nebula. Both tower-like nebulas are cocoons of young stars.
What is the Horsehead cloud?
The Horsehead, also known as Barnard 33, is a cold, dark cloud of gas and dust, silhouetted against the bright nebula, IC 434. The bright area at the top left edge is a young star still embedded in its nursery of gas and dust. But radiation from this hot star is eroding the stellar nursery.
What are the similarities between the Horsehead Nebula and Zeta Orionis?
Both tower-like nebulas are cocoons of young stars. The Horsehead nebula lies just south of the bright star Zeta Orionis, which is easily visible to the unaided eye as the left-hand star in the line of three that form Orion’s Belt.
