What is Corenwyn?
It literally translates to ‘grain wine’, and to an extent it is just that. By regulation, korenwijn must contain at least 51% malt wine, meaning that like a whisky, malted barley is its main ingredient. To contrast, ‘jonge’ jenever may contain no more than 15% malt wine, while ‘oude’ jenever must have at least 15%.
How to drink korenwijn?
Splash a few drops of bitters in an old-fashioned glass, rotate the glass to coat, then top up with cold genever and ice. This makes a drink not dissimilar in style to the British pink gin.

What does Genever taste like?
Taste. Jonge jenever has a neutral taste, like vodka, with a slight aroma of juniper and malt wine. Oude jenever has a smoother, very aromatic taste with malty flavours. Oude jenever is sometimes aged in wood; its malty, woody and smoky flavours resemble whisky.
How strong is genever?
Alcohol strength is between 46%-48% abv, and has a very strong malted grain flavor.
Does genever taste like gin?
