How do meal plans work at Rutgers?
Meal plans are non-transferable, but students may use 10 of their meals for their guest(s). Only one guest meal may be allocated for each guest. Guest(s) must be present when utilizing guest meals. Rates below are if cash, credit or RU Express is used.

How do Rutgers dining halls work?
An organizer goes to the dining hall closest to where the event will take place, and sets up a meal exchange contract with the cashier or manager of that dining hall. The most popular menus are barbecues (We provide burgers, hot dog, veggie burgers and accompaniments. You cook the food yourself on your own grill.
What is RU Express?
RU Express is the official university debit account. It offers a convenient cash-free alternative that allows students, faculty and staff to use their RUconnection ID card like a debit card. RU Express is administered in both the Rutgers Camden and New Brunswick/Piscataway campuses.
Can you dorm alone at Rutgers?
Guests who are residents from your residence hall or other university residence halls are permitted. No other guests are allowed in residence halls. Students are encouraged to meet with parents, families, and non-residential guests outside of the building in the surrounding outdoor locations around campus.
