Is a rain shower head worth it?
Rain shower heads won’t give as good water pressure as a standard shower head. I’ve used a few rain shower heads in hotels and they do offer good pressure, but not as good as a standard shower head. The benefit of a rain shower head is more water flows over the body as it has a wider area of flow.
Are shower arms universal?
Most homeowners with standard piping in their homes can simply pick up any shower head from a retailer. Modern shower heads are designed to universally fit all 1/2 shower-arm pipes.
How do you extend a rain shower head on a wall?
To extend the shower head across the shower area, run pipe from the shower valve up through the wall top plate — the upper horizontal element in the stud wall. You’ll make a 90-degree turn, extend pipe over the shower and then make a 90-degree turn down. You’ll install a drop arm and then the new rain shower head.
How do you remove a shower head from a shower arm?
Grip the shower arm with pliers while using a wrench on the shower head. There should be a connecting nut the wrench can be tightened on. Loosen the shower head by turning the nut counterclockwise. Once the shower head is loose, you can finish unscrewing it.
How do you fix a shower head that won’t stay up?
Reinstall the showerhead – Just as you did with the shower arm, apply either plumbing tape or plumbers compound to the threaded end of the showerhead before reinserting it onto the new shower arm. Turn the showerhead clockwise until snug, then turn one more half-turn.
