Is the area around the Baltimore Aquarium safe?
Yes. The inner harbor is very safe to visit. Young children would have a good time at any of Port Discovery, the Aquarium or the Science Center.
Does the Baltimore Aquarium require vaccines?
Since October 2021, a vaccine policy for Aquarium staff and volunteers has been in place. While the Aquarium is not required to implement these safety policies, we are committed to following the latest science and acting responsibly to protect the health and safety of our guests, staff, volunteers and animals.

Depending on which facility you choose, you may be paying for parking by the hour, so it’s good to have an idea of how long your National Aquarium visit may last. You should expect to take at least 2 to 3 hours, depending on the size and ages of your group.
Can you bring strollers to Baltimore Aquarium?
No strollers are permitted inside the National Aquarium. Check your stroller at the entrance, and the aquarium will provide a carrier. Once inside the main building, it’s obvious why strollers aren’t permitted. Crowds, escalators and people movers would make it very difficult to navigate.

Baltimore can be a good city for solo travelers that stick to the revitalized parts of town, but tourists, alone or in a group, should generally avoid walking around late at night. At night, you are more likely to be a victim of mugging.

Do you have to vaccinated to go to the Aquarium?
The Aquarium recommends both vaccinated and unvaccinated guests and staff to wear a mask indoors. Masks are required at all times during Animal Encounters both indoors and outdoors.
Does Baltimore Aquarium have penguins?
The Penguin Coast exhibit, which opened in 2014, includes a 185,000-gallon pool surrounding an indoor conservation center which houses the birds’ nest boxes, a hospital room, kitchen and keeper work space. More than 70 African black-footed penguins are housed in Penguin Coast.
Does the Baltimore Aquarium have a coat check?
To start, my overall experience was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with the animals and the exhibits. I would certainly go back if visiting Baltimore, however the facility was not well equipped to handle the crowd at the door to provide them with coat check and stroller check.
